The aim of this course is to enable learners to operate computerised accounts software (Sage Line 50) to carry out routine accounting tasks. These tasks include being able to create accounts, process accounting information in respect of the sales and purchase ledger, understanding how to use batch control sheets and being able to produce accounting reports. They will learn accounting terminology, features of accounting software compared to manual book keeping, the advantages & disadvantages to users of different types of accounting software. Learners will also complete a bank reconciliation, remittances & a greater variety of reports to those on the level 1 course.
This is a distance learning course which will enable learners to work at a pace & time to suit them. However, learners will be expected to complete a minimum of 3 hours per week. The expected course length is 10 weeks. However, some learners may wish to fast-track & finish sooner.
Students will be monitored using remote software in order to ensure that they are progressing through the course.
This course is suited to learners who are interested in an introduction to accounting & who are considering moving onto the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) courses. This could include those with no prior knowledge of accounting or those who already have some practical knowledge.
You will be required to have a good level of literacy, numeracy & I.T. skills to enable you to complete the course. You will be assessed for English, maths & combined ICT via an online learning platform & must be working at level 1 & above.
Prior to the course learners will be expected to be able download & install software, to use basic excel, word & convert files to pdfs. These will require uploading to the training website.
You will need to download Sage 50c Accounts Professional software onto your own computer in order to complete this course - this will give you free access to this software for 180 days.
If you do not have these skills, contact us to see how we can help you.
Learners must have a Windows laptop or computer. Smart phones & tablets are not suitable for this software.
All assessments are completed at home using Sage where you will produce reports. You will upload these to the learner platform for feedback from your teacher. Upon completion & passing the exercises & mock exam, learners are able to take the Sage level 2 Certification exam. This can be done on their own computer at home. If the learners do not pass this exam, they are able to pay Sage directly for a resit. This is not a requisite of the course.
On successful completion of this course you could gain Sage level 2 Certification.
You can progress to level 2 or progress to AAT level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping or AAT level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. Those wishing to move onto level 2, must have a level 2 literacy & numeracy qualification.
