Course Content
The Starter for Ten is a parenting programme designed to promote preschool children’s school readiness and support parents/guardians in helping their children learn and develop. At the end of the programme children will have successfully completed the 10-step checklist to help prepare them for starting school.
This course is delivered through resources and support given through email and not an online face to face session. This will give you flexibility while having young children at home and the opportunity to learn at a time that is suitable for you.
This course is suitable for families whose children are due to start or have just started primary school.
You will require access to the internet and an email address to receive your resources throughout the programme.
Your tutor will give you written feedback through email with guidance on how to continuously develop and improve your skills. You will be required to respond to your teacher to update them on how you have completed tasks set on a weekly basis. If preferred you could also speak with your tutor directly over Skype/Microsoft Teams. Your tutor will support you with this.
You will have achieved greater knowledge on how to prepare your child for their transition to school and as a reward for your child's participation in the programme, they will receive their very own puppet and certificate of achievement.
There are other Family Learning courses which may interest you including understanding your child's mental health and supporting your children with their schoolwork.
