Do you need to get to grips with digital skills? The Essential Digital Skills Qualification entry level 3 (EDSQ) is ideal for anyone with little experience of using digital devices or the internet. If you are over 19 and don’t already have a qualification in digital skills, the course is free!

The qualification covers all five skills areas below:
1. Using devices and handling information.
2. Creating and editing.
3. Communicating.
4. Transactions.
5. Being safe and responsible online.

Our specialist teachers will help you to learn new skills as you work independently, in pairs and as group completing a variety of activities to suit your learning needs. You will build your skills through regular practice and receive a certificate after successfully completing the course.
This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. The course is in two parts, including a short preparation course, which must be completed prior to the main course. You will be required to complete a skills assessment prior to enrolling onto this course.
You should have completed the Foundation digital skills course prior to joining this class or be able to demonstrate computer skills at least be able to
• turn on a device (including entering and updating any account information safely, such as a password);
• use the available controls on a device (such as a mouse and keyboard for a computer, or touchscreen on a smartphone or tablet);
• make use of accessibility tools (including assistive technology) to make devices easier to use (such as changing display settings to make content easier to read);
• interact with the home screen on a device;
• connect to the internet (including Wi-Fi) safely and securely, and open a browser;
• open and access an application on a device.
You will need to have regular access to a personal computer with Microsoft Office installed. Please bring a notepad, pen or pencil and a small folder for handouts and your work. You may wish to use a memory stick.
This course will, be delivered online. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you on a weekly basis through Zoom and email you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions across the County. You will, be given tasks to complete at each session with instructions and online demonstrations.
Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course and you will complete two online assessments covering knowledge and skills.
BCS Essential Digital Skills Qualifications entry level 3.
Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualifications (BCS) or Level 1 ECDL Certificate in IT user skills (BCS).
