If you have the creative bug and can’t get enough of machine sewing, then this course is for you. You will learn further sewing processes and techniques to increase confidence using your own sewing machine, which can then be applied to home textiles or dressmaking projects. This is a great follow on course from Beginners sewing machine skills.
This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. Previous experience using a sewing machine is essential, with some knowledge of sewing techniques and processes required. Basic IT skills are essential. If you are self-taught and not sure about your level, why not join the Beginners sewing machine skills class and make sure you don’t miss out on expert tuition.
This course will be delivered online. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you on a weekly basis through Zoom, email and Moodle. You will need a working sewing machine, thread and pieces of material to use for practising processes and techniques.
Your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress throughout the course, with hints and tips on how to improve your technique and continue to develop your skills.
You will receive an Adult Learning Certificate of Achievement after successfully completing the course.
We have follow-on courses such as sewing skills for home textiles or creative textiles. If you want to design your own clothes, you might want to think about the Introduction to fashion design and illustration. If you are keen to get back into the classroom, our spring programme includes contemporary and vintage clothes from commercial patterns
