Course Content
This course will prepare you for future training and learning in Early Years.
You will gain confidence through having discussions and carrying out tasks to gain an understanding of what working in Early Years involves.
By the end of the course you will have developed an understanding of The Early Years Foundation Stage, Child development, Observation and how it links to child development and why we have legislation and how it fits in to Early Years.
This course is suitable for those who are looking to work in Early Years or to gain further knowledge of this area.
This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.
No previous experience is required. Basic IT skills are essential.
This course will be delivered online. You will need to have regular access to the internet, a PC laptop or tablet and email account to make the most of the online sessions. Some paper resources may be sent to you to support you to study.
You will be encouraged to take part in discussions / question and answer sessions. Worksheets and handouts will be used to assess knowledge. Informal quizzes will be used to evaluate progress.
You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
