Course Content
This qualification will extend and develop your knowledge and skills of a wide range the creative craft processes related to textiles.
You will explore, develop and evaluate your ideas through research and experimentation, learning how to use raw materials, tools and equipment in a safe and competent manner
You will also develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the craft environment.

Open Entry Requirements

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. Basic IT skills are essential. If you have not already completed the Level 1 in Creative Craft, you are expected to complete the 4-week free Introduction to Creative Craft as this will prepare you for progression at a level that is right for you.

Open What Will I Need?

Your teacher will provide you with a basic list of resources you will need to get you started. In the event of ongoing social distancing, this course will contain online delivery. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you on a weekly basis through Skype, email and Moodle. Paper based resources may be sent to you to support you to study.

Open Assessment Methods

You will create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit.

NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Crafts - Textiles

Open Progression

You could progress to the Level 2 Award in Creative Crafts. There are also a number of other courses that may be suitable for you. These include Drawing and design development for textiles, Textiles and surface patterns and a wide range of other sewing courses

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
