This is an introductory course for beginners who want to design and create a patchwork quilt.

During this course you will be taught how to use patchworking tools and equipment correctly, how to cut and sew patchwork pieces, quilt, baste and bind your quilt to finish.

This is the ideal course for anyone who has ever wanted to try patchwork and quilting. Create your own patchwork quilt alongside other like-minded learners in a fun and relaxed environment.

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. No previous experience is required.

Basic IT skills are essential for access to online learning and emails.

This course is delivered online. You will need use of a laptop, Tablet or Smartphone and access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you on a weekly basis through email and Teams

You will need fabrics (scrap fabrics or old clothes are also fine), scissors, ruler and a sewing machine (although hand sewing needle and thread can also be used). Quilting tools such as a rotary cutter, quilting ruler and cutting mat would also be useful but are NOT essential.

Your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress throughout the course, with tips on how to improve your technique and continue to develop your skills.

You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

You can continue to develop your skills by progressing onto 'Developing your patchwork & quilting' and 'Advanced traditional & modern patchwork'. We add more courses throughout the year so keep checking our website for updates.
