Course Content
This professional development qualification provides essential knowledge and skills to anyone wanting to actively support individuals with learning disabilities. Units include: the meaning of learning disability, support, legislation, communication and planning.
As this course is delivered online you will require basic IT skills and be aged 19 years or over. In order to be accepted onto this qualification, you will be required to complete the free course ‘Introduction to Supporting Individuals with learning Disabilities’. You will need to be working or volunteering in a suitable setting to show competence in both knowledge and skills
You will require an email address, access to the internet and a suitable electronic device such as a tablet, laptop or PC
There will be a range of activities and tasks throughout the course and you will receive feedback from your teacher throughout. You will also be observed by your teacher within your work/voluntary setting to evidence skills in this area.
Level 2 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Difficulties
The Award provides a direct progression route to Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care as they share a number of units or the Level 3 Award and Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities.

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
