Learning in the local community has changed the lives of many adults across North Yorkshire and you could be one of them!
Research shows that learning throughout adulthood and into later life encourages important social interaction, gives a sense of hope and purpose and helps cope with stress, all of which has a positive impact on maintaining and improving our mental health and wellbeing.
Have you ever looked back at life and thought: what a journey! What experiences would you like to share with others? This course will provide you with an introduction to a range of forms and genres including letters to yourself, short stories, autobiographies and memoirs. You will read examples and discuss writing techniques to build your individual style.
During the course you will learn about:
• Creative inspirations from memories
• Personal style, setting development and planning techniques
• Tips on creating powerful imagery and mood in your writing
This course is delivered for up to 15 hours in weekly sessions. At the end of the course, students will have created several short pieces of work or a larger, ongoing piece of work in progress.
