Course Content

The course focusses on writing and creating a story with your child using a wide range of exciting resources in a fun and relaxed family environment within the school. The sessions will provide an opportunity in which parents will support their child’s literacy and numeracy skill development whilst enjoying creating a story book to take home.


This course is to be delivered within the school to parents and carers of Broomfield Primary School only.


Notepad, pen or pencil and a folder to keep your work in.


By the end of the course learners will be able to:
Support child to create unique characters, props and crafts.
Demonstrate support of their child’s literacy and numeracy skills through play and creating crafts.
Make a unique story book to take home at the end of the course.


On successful completion of this course you could progress on to a longer course in supporting numeracy or literacy in which you can develop your own skills. Alternatively you may wish to enrol onto a single unit childcare qualification.

  • English, maths including GCSEs and computing courses (up to Level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2023).
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £20,319.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
