This is the year for change, with everyone having to tighten their budgets with ever increasing prices on fuel and food and the pandemic still with us! Then let us explore some new ways to help us prepare for a brighter, healthier future looking at what we eat, where it comes from and sustainability for our futures.
You may wish to add some healthy alternatives to your diets, review your menus to cater for everyone’s dietary requirements and check your budget’s then here is an opportunity to join us from the comfort of your own home to gain new ideas for nutritious, healthy meals for you and your family.

These sessions will provide recipes with fresh ideas to update your home culinary expertise showing how you can adapt your favourite recipes, prepare and store foods for the Winter period. Discussion on the recipes with knowledge of ingredients, how to prepare and alternative ingredients to be used, dietary advice to aid everyone joining together for the social aspect of enjoying food.
Some of the dishes we will explore will be soups, stir-fries, traditional and ethnic cuisine, puddings and baking as well as other celebration recipes from our diverse community around us, who celebrate their own festivals at this time of the year.

Dietary requirements will be taken into consideration.
Your teacher will share hints, tips and demonstrate some basic skills. We will discuss how to look after your health and wellbeing during the current climate and how what we eat can improve our health and make us more resilient.
This course is for anyone aged 19 and over.
No previous experience is required.
To take part in this course you will need access to a Laptop, Tablet with webcam or Smartphone. This course will be delivered online. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you through Teams and email.
You will also need –
• A notepad and pen/ pencil to take notes during the session
• Some equipment or a particular ingredient to be brought to the session, your teacher will advise you of this prior to the session.
• You may also want a folder to keep your recipes and notes in, so they can be referred to during the session.
Your teacher will give verbal feedback throughout the course.
You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
