Course Content

Throughout your sessions, you will be given an insight into what roles are available within this sector working with younger adults, the elderly and individuals with learning disabilities. You will be given the knowledge on how you can prepare for a future within Health and Social Care, learn about person centred care, communication approaches and the importance of record keeping.


This is a partnership course for DWP, Northallerton/Richmond.
This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. No previous experience required.

The course will be delivered online so you will require access to the internet, an email account and a suitable electronic device such as a tablet or laptop. Your teacher will email you with a link to join the virtual classroom.


Your teacher will give verbal feedback throughout the course.


You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.


Progress to a career in Health and Social Care by completing a suitable qualification.

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
