Course Content

This course is for learners who are progressing from the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping AQ2016.

By the end of the course using manual book keeping students will be able to:
• Produce stock valuations using a variety of methods
• Understand cost behaviour
• Have a knowledge of legislation and policies in the workplace
• Use Sage accounting software to;
• Set up accounts
• Make supplier and other payments
• Enter customer and other receipts
• Process invoices and credit notes
• Complete a bank reconciliation
• Create customer statements
• Produce supplier remittances
• Produce basic reports showing information entered

The content is covered in 3 modules (Using Accounting Software, Elements in Costing and Working Effectively).


You must have already completed the AAT level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping as this course allows you to continue studying to convert the AAT level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping to the level 2 Diploma in Accounting.
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2021 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You will need access to a Laptop or Tablet
This course will be delivered online using Skype. You will need access to the internet and an Email account. Your teacher will contact you via Skype/ Email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions across the County. You will be given tasks to complete at each session and online demonstrations.


The AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting consists of AAT assessed modules. (Due to Covid restrictions, the only assessment centre currently available is in Ripon).


Upon Successful completion of all the AAT assessments you will achieve the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting.


You may wish to progress to AAT Level 3.
Possible jobs after completing this level 2 qualification are:
Accounts Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Bookkeeper, Trainee Accounts Technician.

  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
