Course Content

This course gives you the opportunity to explore and develop practical work inspired by contemporary and experimental methods within the area of textile design. This will lead to the development of design ideas and creating exciting practical outcomes. You will learn through tutor led demonstrations and practical activities. This course is suitable for beginners who want to develop skills in experimental textiles and art processes. If you have previous experience in this subject, you will be able to develop these skills and learn new techniques.

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.

This course is delivered face to face. A basic range of practical equipment will be provided, however you may want to provide your own threads, wools and fabric scraps to personalise your project samples. You will also need an A4 sketchbook or sketching paper.

Your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your project throughout the course, with guidance on how to improve and continue to develop your skills.

You will receive an NYCC Certificate of Achievement after successfully completing the course.

You could move onto further Textiles or sewing courses, or the accredited course in creative textiles. There is also a range of sewing courses to develop creative ideas.
