Course Content

This is a short non-accredited introduction to the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting or Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping, which needs to be completed prior to progressing to a AAT Level 3 course.
This course covers:
An overview of the AAT suite of qualifications
English, maths and ICT skills needed for AAT level 3 qualifications
Assessing your current English, maths and ICT qualifications
How will I learn?
What are the possible progression options?
Is this the right course for me?

Time commitments needed, attendance and planned end dates

Open Entry Requirements


This course is for anyone aged 19 or over living in North Yorkshire with a valid Post Code.
You must hold an AAT qualification at level 2 or equivalent, maths and English at level 2 and be working at level 2 in ICT.

Open What Will I Need?


You will need access to a Laptop.
This course will be delivered online using Teams. You will need access to the internet and an Email account. Your teacher will contact you via Teams/ Email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions across the County. You may be given tasks to complete at each session and online demonstrations.

Open Assessment Methods


Verbal and/or written feedback will be provided throughout this course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will achieve an understanding of the requirements of the AAT qulaifications particularly at Level 3.

Open Progression


This non-accredited Introduction to AAT level 3, which once completed, can lead to progression to the AAT Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping or the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
