This qualification develops a basic knowledge of the adult social care sector. It covers the type of job roles and services within in, the role of communication and the importance of valuing the individuals being cared for.

You must be aged 19 years or over as at 31st August 2022.

You will require basic IT skills to complete an online portfolio. You will receive support from your teacher with how to do this.

You will have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities and tasks with others within your class and receive feedback from your teacher throughout.

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.

Level 2 Diploma in Care or other qualifications depending on
the career route you wish to take.

  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2022, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£18,525), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher. This funding is part of the ‘Level 3 Free Courses for Jobs’ offer and you will find a full list of qualifications included in this offer here
