Course Content

The course explores a range of positive steps and actions we can take for ourselves to increase feelings of positivity and wellbeing. During the course you will:
o Discuss tips and techniques for increasing confidence, assertiveness and self-esteem
o Identify the personal benefits of volunteering and opportunities to volunteer
o Sample a range of online wellbeing resources including journaling, gratitude diaries and sleep stories
o Develop a plan to increase personal wellbeing



The course is for anyone aged 19 or over.
No previous experience is needed.


The course is delivered on Microsoft Teams so you will need a computer or device that is connected to the internet and access to an email address.

Your teacher will give verbal feedback throughout the course.


You can request an ALSS Certificate of Achievement on successful completion of the course if you wish to do so.


Your teacher will advise of further courses available from both the ALSS service and Job Centre

  • English, maths including GCSEs and computing courses (up to Level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2023).
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £20,319.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
