Course Content

This is a 1-week non-accredited introduction to Bookkeeping, which needs to be completed prior to progressing to the AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping.
This course covers:
• Overview of Bookkeeping
• An overview of the AAT suite of qualifications
• English, maths and ICT skills needed for AAT level 1 and 2 qualifications
• Assessing your current English, maths and ICT qualifications
• How will I learn?
• What are the possible progression options?

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over living in North Yorkshire with a valid Post Code.
No previous experience is required. Basic IT skills are essential.


You will need access to a Laptop.
This course will be delivered online using Skype / Teams. You will need access to the internet and an Email account. Your teacher will contact you via Skype/ Teams/ Email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions across the County. You may be given tasks to complete at each session and online demonstrations.

Verbal and/or written feedback will be provided throughout this course.

You will achieve an understanding of the requirements of the AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping.

This non-accredited Introduction to Bookkeeping, which once completed, can led to progression to the AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping.

  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
