Course Content

To enable learners to be able to accompany a variety songs on a ukulele.


This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.
A beginners level introduction to playing a ukulele for those who have little or no knowledge of playing ukulele looking at a basic knowledge of chords, strumming, tuning and song accompaniment.


Ukulele, though one can be provided to start with for use in class for you to try at first before you buy your own. Advice will be given on what and where to buy a Ukulele if required
Please bring a notepad, pen or pencil and a small folder for handouts and your work.
During the sessions you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions.
You will be given tasks to complete at each session, instructions and demonstrations.



Your teacher will give you written and verbal throughout the sessions.


You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
