Course Content

ICDL is an internationally recognised qualification. This level 2 unit is designed to give an overview of improving productivity with the office software for the learner who wish to gain an ICT qualification. By improving your skills, you will be able to work more efficiently in your job, at home or with IT in general. It follows a structured syllabus working through a series of seperately assessed modules covering specific knowledge areas and skills.

You will work through a variety of exercises to suit your learning needs and will work individually, in pairs or in groups led by a specialist teacher.

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over. You will be required to complete a skills assessment prior to enrolling onto this course. Whilst no entry qualifications are required for the Level 2 Certificate, basic keyboard and mouse skills are necessary and some familiarity with the Internet is desirable. If you feel you do not have these skills, you may wish to enrol on an Introduction to Computers course first.

You will need a notepad and pen or pencil. You may also need a USB memory stick and access to a suitable computer away from the classroom.
In the event of social distancing, this course will be delivered online. You will need to have regular access to a personal computer with Microsoft Office installed and email account to make the most of the online sessions. Some paper resources and study books may be sent to you to support you to achieve in these difficult times. Your teacher will provide you with help to get up and running and ongoing regular “classroom” support.

Your teacher will assess your knowledge at the start of the course and within each unit, your individual learning will be tailored accordingly. Observation of your progress throughout the tasks along with sample assessments will be used to confirm your abilities. Completion of each unit is followed by an online assessment set by the British Computer Society (BCS).

On successful completion of this unit you will receive a certificate from BCS.

Your teacher will discuss progression options with you.
