Course Content

This course is for those wishing to progress from the Skillsfirst Award in Computerised Accounting Level 1 and have completed the Introduction to Sage Level 2. You may wish to go self-employed, be new to bookkeeping or apply for an accounting role looking for a computerised accounting qualification.

By the end of the course using a Sage accounting package students will be able to:

• Use Sage to open debtor and creditor accounts
• Account for payments and receipts and set up recurring entries
• Make journal entries within Sage
• Use Sage for credit and budget control
• Produce basic reports showing information entered
• Keep information safe and store data within Sage
• Fundamentals of Bookkeeping
• Obtain a recognised qualification



To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
You should be working at Level 2 in maths, English and ICT. You will also need to have completed the mandatory 2 weeks Introduction to Sage Level 2 course.


You will need access to a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone & email.
This course will be delivered online using Teams and via an online learning portal. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you via Teams/email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions. You will be given tasks to complete at each week to upload onto the online portal. You will also need a pen, paper & calculator.


Practice questions and assessments are completed at home.
This qualification consists of two units, the final unit is assessed on specified Monday at our exam centre in Ripon.


Upon successful completion of two assessments you will achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Computerised
Accounting for Business.

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping
AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
