"This is a 2 week non-accredited introduction to Sage Accounts, which needs to be completed prior to progressing to the Skillsfirst Level 1 Award in Computerised Payroll.
This course covers:
• Overview of the content of the Skillsfirst Award in Computerised Payroll
• Legislation adhered to when employing staff
• Calculating Gross pay using time rate, piece-work & overtime
• Calculating maternity pay
• Calculating NI & PAYE
• Information required for new starters.



To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

You must hold a maths and English qualification at Level 1 and be competent with IT.


You will need access to a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone, Microsoft Office & email. No previous experience using Sage Payroll or payroll is required but Basic IT Skills are essential.
This course will be delivered online using Teams. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you via Teams/email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions. You may be given tasks to complete at each session and online demonstrations. You will also need a pen, paper & calculator.


Verbal and/or written feedback will be provided throughout this course.


You will achieve an understanding of the requirements of the Skillsfirst Award in Computerised Accounting for Business Level 1.
