Course Content
You need to attend this couse before doing the Digital Functional Skills qualification.
This course is for you if you want to go on to the Digital Functional Skills qualification. This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of what you will be undertaking within the Digital Functional Skills qualification. You will gain confidence through having discussions and carrying out tasks to gain an understanding of which future learning pathway is right for you.

This course will cover:
What learning involves
What is expected to be done to complete the qualification
Expectations of yourself and the teacher
British Values and how they are relevant to digital and IT skills
Knowledge of how to be successful in your learning

Open Entry Requirements


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2023 and not already have a qualification in Digital Skills at Level 1. Further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at enrolment stage; we may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

Open What Will I Need?


You may wish to have a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts

Open Assessment Methods


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course. There is a 90 minute online assessment at the end of the course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will receive Digital Functional Skills Qualification on successful completion of this course.

Open Progression


You will be able to develop your digital skills further by taking additional courses. For example, you may like to learn more about using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Spreadsheets, or about online safety and cybersecurity. Your teacher will discuss progression options with you.

Open Is there anything else I need to know?


You may like to bring a drink with you to have away from the computer and electrical equipment.

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
