Course Content

This qualification prepares learners for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in an Early Years setting. It covers areas of the importance of play, Organisation of an Early Years setting and Roles and responsibilities in Early years.


To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
This qualification is aimed at a range of learners aged 19+ who are thinking of working in an Early Year’s setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language. Learners must attend introduction to working with children course prior to level 1.


This qualification will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which could include written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.


Level 1 Award in an Introduction to Early Years Settings.


Learners can progress onto the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner.

  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
