Course Content

This programme is an ideal progression from the Get Started with PowerPoint course and is designed to give an overview of Microsoft PowerPoint for learners who wish to develop these basic skills. There is a strong emphasis on improving your employability skills; by completing this course, you will be able to work more efficiently in your job, at home and with IT in general. It follows a structured syllabus working through a range of topics to cover specific knowledge areas and skills.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Consider design and accessibility implications when working with an audience.
• Incorporate built in templates and logos to produce high-quality effective
presentations.
• Develop your skills in working with a range of slide layouts including organisation charts.
• Apply a range of formatting tools, including animation and transition effects.

Open Entry Requirements


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
It is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of ICT or have completed the Get started with PowerPoint course.

Open What Will I Need?


This course is online. You will need to have access to a personal computer or laptop, a working camera and microphone, access to the internet, word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) and an email account to make the most of the online sessions. If you are keen to take notes, please have a notepad, pen or pencil to hand

Open Assessment Methods


Your teacher will assess your knowledge at the start of the course and your individual learning will be tailored accordingly. Observation of your progress throughout the various tasks will be used to assess your skills.
Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

Open Progression


Your teacher will discuss progression options, and these will include; Digital Functional Skills, Cyber Security or other digital courses. Your teacher will advise you of the suitability and availability of these.

  • English, maths including GCSEs and computing courses (up to Level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024).
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £25,000.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£25,000), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
