Course Content

This course is for you if you would like to discover the advantages of using the NHS App. The course will provide you with an understanding of what is required to access the NHS app.

Access a personal email account
Understand the importance of secure passwords
Use App store/Google Play to download the NHS App
Register and discover available online services.



To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You will need to bring your smartphone or tablet, a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store your notes and handouts.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Following the course, you will be able to save and print a certificate of completion. 


Your teacher will discuss progression options, and these will include; First/Next Steps with Computers, Move on with computers, Digital Functional Skills, Cyber Security or other digital courses or NYC learning opportunities.

  • You can pay for your course in instalments (over £100). Please ask for details.
  • English, maths including GCSEs and computing courses (up to Level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024).
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £25,000.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£25,000), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
