Course Content

This is a 1-week non-accredited introduction to managing personal finances, which needs to be completed prior to progressing to the TQUK Level 1 Award in Managing Personal Finances.
This course covers:
• An overview of the TQUK Qualification
• English, maths and ICT skills needed to complete the course
• Assessing your current English, maths and ICT qualifications
• How will I learn?
• What are the possible progression options?
• Is this the right course for me?
• Assessment format
• Time commitments needed, attendance and planned end dates
You will develop skills and knowledge to manage books effectively. It includes manually completing a cash book, balancing an account & calculating VAT.


To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You will need access to a laptop or computer & email.
This course will be delivered online using Teams. You will need access to the internet and an email account. Your teacher will contact you via Teams/email, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to group discussions. You may be given tasks to complete at each session and online demonstrations. You will also need a pen, paper & calculator.


Verbal and/or written feedback will be provided throughout this course.
You will be expected to complete homework before you can progress onto the accredited qualification.


You will achieve an understanding of the requirements of the TQUK qualifications, particularly the Level 1 Award in Managing Personal Finances.

  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
