Course Content

Who am I is a course is part 2 of a 3 course suite of learning, designed to support learners to determine their own strengths and weaknesses, transferrable skills, and beliefs and values. This will enable you appreciate your current strengths and the importance of your transferrable skills and to align them with what potential employers may be looking for or, what further studies would suit you to achieve a suitable goal. You will discover how to stay focussed and positive through setting realistic and achievable goals in a step-by-step fashion and develop the ability to create positive change.


To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact your for further information or refer you to alternative provision. No previous experience is required,


A pen and paper would be beneficial.

Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course and you will create a portfolio of work as a permanent record of learning.


You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

On completion of this course, you can continue your pathway with part 3 ‘Build Your Skills’.
Other personal and professional development courses will be available to you including a range of accredited courses such as Level 1 Employability, Level 1 Customer Service, Basic Accounting, Level 1 Award in preparing to work in schools, Level 2 Team Leading, Level 1 & Level 2 Maths or English. Your teacher will discuss these with you.

  • We can offer financial support relating to childcare costs, travel costs, course fees, books etc. (T&C apply).
  • You can pay for your course in instalments (over £100). Please ask for details.
  • English, maths including GCSEs and computing courses (up to Level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024).
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £25,000.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£25,000), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
