Course Content

This is a two hour session where you will learn about Dementia, what the term means and difficulties those with Dementia face on a daily basis. The course will cover how Dementia affects the caregivers and the individual themselves and why they need to be treated as a person first. The session will cover communication and memory difficulties individuals with Dementia can experience, and ways to overcome these issues. Learners will be provided with some interesting statistics about Dementia.



To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.



This is a face to face session, all materials will be provided. If enrolling on the day please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance Number.




You will receive feedback through the session and will complete a workbook to capture the teaching and learning which is taking place. Discussions will take place which will also show awareness of the topic.




You will achieve a certificate in Awareness of Dementia.



You will have the opportunity to meet with one of our team who will be able to offer advice on the variety of learning opportunities.

  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your individual employed/self employed income is below £20,319.
  • If you have not yet achieved a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, you could learn for FREE.
  • Don’t worry if you have already gained a Level 3 qualification, but want to change your career path and try something new – you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan which you start to pay back when you earn over £27,295.
  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
