IT courses can open the door to a range of work and education opportunities along with building confidence in everyday life and work.
Our Language for Microsoft Office course can support you to access IT classes and achieve recognised qualifications. You will learn how to do simple tasks in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and use Microsoft Teams on a computer. You will also learn how to write and send emails.
Microsoft Office for ESOL Learners supports you to build your basic IT skills in preparation for an IT course. It will also support you to use and recognise IT terms.
Although this course does not have an exam, you will be given details of IT courses at your own level.

This course is for anyone who was aged 19 or over on 31.8.24 whose first language is not English.
You will need to provide ID (such as a passport or BNO visa) a National Insurance number and we will need to ask you about your residency in the UK.
We will ask you to provide evidence of qualifications you have achieved. If you cannot provide the evidence, we will ask you to undertake an initial assessment to ensure that you are at the right level.
You will need to commit to regular attendance and to complete some study in your own time.

You will need access to a laptop if you plan to study online. Please be aware that smart phone access is not advised. You will need access to the internet and a Microsoft Teams Education email account. For online study, your teacher will contact you on a weekly basis through Teams and email. You will be given tasks to complete at each session, instructions and online demonstrations.

If you don’t have access to a computer, we may still be able to support you. Ask for an appointment with a member of staff to discuss our other options.

Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

An attendance certificate to show your commitment to skills building.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.

Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

Other courses related to personal or professional development. This could be an exam-based IT course, an ESOL course in speaking and listening, reading or writing, an English qualification, employability or a course leading to work.
