Course Content

This is a 1-week non-accredited course, which needs to be completed prior to progressing to the AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping or Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.

The course will help you to:
• Understand the content of the AAT level 3 qualifications
• Assess your English, maths and ICT skills needed for AAT level 3 qualifications
• Know the time commitments needed, attendance, assessment and planned end dates
• See the different methods of teaching used in the AAT courses
• Learn about the possible progression options
• Decide if a level 3 accounting is the right course for you
• Recap tasks learnt at level 2
• Understand the way questions are worded at level 3

Open Entry Requirements


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
Basic IT skills are essential.
You should hold AAT level 2 Certificate in Accounting or equivalent. You should also have qualifications at level 2 in maths and English.

Online sessions - You will need a pen, paper and calculator. You will also need access to a computer or laptop with internet and email.

Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will achieve an understanding of the requirements of the AAT level 3 qualifications, particularly the AAT level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping & Diploma in Accounting.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
