Course Content

This session is for any learners who are attending an Adult Learning course online, or thinking about joining one.
This will support you in those early steps of your learning journey and learning online with us.
The course will help you to:
• Enrol onto courses run by Adult Skills & Learning Service.
• Identify your current working levels through an initial assessment.
• Improve your confidence in using Teams Educator, which is how online / hybrid courses will be delivered
• Meet your tutors.
• Gain advice on course options
During the course you will be given helpful step-by-step guidance from our specialist teacher.

Open Entry Requirements


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

Information to allow you to enrol onto further learning opportunities, including forms of identification.

You will have a greater awareness of the courses available from the Adult Learning & skills Service, be able to enrol to further learning courses, and improve your confidence in learning online.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

Helping you financially

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
