Course Content

The course will help you to improve your knowledge of mental health. This will help you to manage your own well-being and increase your understanding of the mental health experiences of others. This Mental Health Awareness course is aimed for people working within community or charity roles and would also benefit people whose work calls for interaction with the general public as part of their day-to-day routine. On this awareness course you will: raise your awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties, dispel some of the misconceptions around mental health issues and develop a strong awareness and knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.


This course can progress to the NCFE Level 1 Award in Mental Health

The course will help you to:
Gain more understanding of the affects on others that mental ill health can cause and how to support people who have mental health problems.

Helping you financially

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
