Course Content

This is a 6-week course where you will have the opportunity to support and learn alongside your child in the school environment. You will celebrate the Spring and learn ways in which you can support your child’s learning and you will have fun together in school developing numeracy and literacy and learning more about the world around us.
By the end of the course you will have:
• Had fun with your child in the school environment and be able to help and support your child through engaging with fun numeracy and a literacy activities.
• Learnt about other faiths and cultures from around the world.
• Be able to plant and grow flowers and know what plants need to grow and thrive.


To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
All children must attend the session with an adult and please ensure to book your place.

No previous experience is required.
A pen and paper would be beneficial.
You will take part in self-assessment activities.
Your teacher will give verbal feedback throughout the course.

You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.


Other personal and professional development courses will be available to you including a range of accredited courses such as further Family Learning courses to develop skills and confidence further; Level 1 Award in preparing to work in schools, Level 2 Supporting work in schools and colleges; Level 1 & Level 2 Maths or English. Your teacher will discuss these with you.



Parents/carers are required to stay with their children throughout the session and work alongside them to create their craft project.

Helping you financially

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
