Course Content

This is a 4-week face to face course which will introduce learners to the concept of working in one of the many Health and Care Sectors. This course will be of interest to those wishing to work in areas such as Nursing, Care Homes, Midwifery, Domiciliary Care, Dental Nurse, Support Worker to name just a few. The course will cover different roles in Health and Care, skills and qualities needed, progression opportunities and the teacher will provide advice and guidance and help with future aims. There will also be the opportunity to try out some of our innovative new equipment as part of the sessions.

Open Entry Requirements


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

Open What Will I Need?


You may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts.

Open Assessment Methods


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will achieve the knowledge you need when considering a role in the social care sector, you will also receive guidance on roles available for future career progression.

Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

Open Progression


This course will lead on to the Level 1 Award and the Level 1 Certificate in Adult Health and Social Care.
