This is a partner course for Age UK

The course intends to address the growing need for basic bid writing skills, which are essential for maintaining vital volunteer-led and community driven local services that support people to move on in work and life. In a world marked by rapid change, the sustainability of these services is of paramount importance to local communities, and this course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to secure the necessary funding and support.
The course is ideally suited for non-profit organisations and community service providers seeking funding for their vital initiatives. It is also valuable for grant writers, fundraising professionals, individuals interested in community development careers, and anyone dedicated to sustaining essential community services.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


Your teacher will give you written and verbal throughout the session.


You will receive an ALSS certificate of achievement on successful completion of this course.

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2024)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
