Course Content

If you are new to distance learning on Equal with adult learning at North Yorkshire, you will need to attend our introduction to distance learning course.
This is a 2 hour session over 3 weeks in which you will learn about the processes and systems to complete one of our distance learning courses. You will have an induction into Equal and teams educator and learn key skills to get you ready to learn online.

This online course will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of Safeguarding in current or future roles and is relevant to anyone working or volunteering in the private, public and charity sectors. During the course, you will:
• Develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to uphold and promote British Values
• Develop an understanding of the effects of extremism, radicalisation and terrorism
• Develop knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and online safety


If you are new to distance learning on Equal with adult learning at North Yorkshire, you will need to attend our introduction to distance learning course.
This is a 2 hour session over 3 weeks in which you will learn about the processes and systems to complete one of our distance learning courses. You will have an induction into Equal and teams educator and learn key skills to get you ready to learn online.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage. We may contact you for further information or refer you to an alternative provision.


This course will be completed online; you will need access to a laptop or tablet with regular access to the internet and an email account. You will receive a login for our learning platform where your resources will be stored, this will allow you to access them whenever you choose to study.


You will complete written assessment activities online. Your assessor will give written feedback throughout the course.


You will receive the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values on completion of this course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.


Other personal and professional development courses including Level 2 Data Protection and GDPR are available. Your assessor will discuss these with you.

  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
