Course Content

You will learn about Dementia, what the term means and difficulties those with Dementia face on a daily basis. The course will cover how Dementia affects the caregivers and the individual themselves and why they need to be treated as a person first. The session will cover communication and memory difficulties individuals with Dementia can experience, and ways to overcome these issues. Information will be provided on techniques and methods of ensuring that effective communication takes place. Learning will also be about person-centred care for those with dementia. Learners will be provided with some interesting statistics about Dementia.



To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


This is a face to face session, all materials will be provided. If enrolling on the day please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance Number.


You will receive feedback through the session and will complete a workbook and a quiz to capture the teaching and learning which is taking place.


You will achieve knowledge and understanding on Dementia.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.


You will have the opportunity to meet with one of our team who will be able to offer advice on the variety of learning opportunities.

  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,000
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
