Course Content

This is a 2-hour face to face and online session (hybrid) which will introduce learners to the concept of working in one of the many Health and Care Sectors. This course will be of interest to those wishing to work in areas such as Nursing, Care Homes, Midwifery, Domiciliary Care to name just a few. The session covers what a day in the life of a Health and Care, worker involves, skills and qualities needed, some theory and some practical tips. There will also be the opportunity to try out some of our innovative new equipment as part of the sessions.


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

You will have the opportunity to meet with one of our team who will be able to offer advice on the variety of learning opportunities. You will also be offered help with CV`s and interview skills with one of our experienced and knowledgeable team. Progression can be to the Introduction to Health and Social Care course.
