Course Content

The course will help you to improve your knowledge of mental health. This will help you to manage your own well-being and increase your understanding of the mental health experiences of others. This NCFE Mental Health Level 1 Award qualification is aimed at people wo have completed the Awareness of Mental health or are working within community or charity roles and would also benefit people whose work calls for interaction with the public as part of their day-to-day routine. On this Level 1 accredited course you will: increase your knowledge of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties, dispel some of the misconceptions around mental health issues and develop a strong awareness and knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.

Gain more understanding of the affects on others that mental ill health can cause and how to support people who have mental health problems.


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course and assignments will be completed in workbooks issued by the teacher, to capture the teaching and learning taking place.


Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.


This course can progress to a level 2 qualification in Mental Health.
