Course Content

The course will provide an introduction for those who are new to the accounting environment. By the end of the course students will be able to:
• Name people interested in accounts and why
• Know the role of a bookkeeper
• Recommend how to keep data safe
• Identify methods of Continual Professional Development
• Be able to explain a range of terminology
• Identify different types of organisations and their advantages and disadvantages.

This course is suitable for those who are new to an office environment, going self-employed or looking to retrain for an accounting/bookkeeping role. This course may be taken as distance learning or classroom based.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage. We may contact you for further information or refer you to an alternative provision.

This is a remote course. A workbook will be emailed or posted to you for completion. You will need access to email to be able to return the workbook for feedback. The workbook can be completed electronically using Word or handwritten and scanned and returned as an email attachment. Access to the internet would be useful for research.

All tasks are completed in a workbook, and you will receive feedback from your teacher.

If you complete all tasks, you will receive a certificate of Completion from NYC ALSS.

  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
