Have you ever wanted to do more with food but don't know where to start - this Christmas taster course will help you learn the basics and have fun with food, including traditional meat based and vegetarian cookery. It is a hands-on cooking experience, and you will be learning a range of cookery skills. This will include exploring imaginative dishes using season leftovers.
The recipes will use affordable everyday ingredients that will make your money go further, including time and fuel saving methods. Dietary requirements will be taken into consideration so please advise prior to the course if you have any dietary needs especially any allergies!!


To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact your for further information or refer you to alternative provision. No previous experience is required,


To take part in this free course you will need to enrol before the session either online by contacting our to enrol with a member of our team.


You will be provided with an apron and all the ingredients for the session


You will receive a good understanding of the basics cookery and knowledge of how to prepare a variety of meals. You will be given the tools and skills to progress and an opportunity to further learning or employment within this sector area.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.

Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

On completion of this course, your teacher will tell you about other courses available.
You may wish to progress to other food prep course.
