Course Content

The aim of the course is to develop some basic skills in PowerPoint. By the end of the course, you should be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of presentation use

• Identify the main parts of the PowerPoint screen

• Enter and edit slide content

• Apply basic formatting to slide content

• Work with a variety of slide layouts

• Use graphics to illustrate a presentation

• Present a slideshow

• prepare for the PowerPoint Transferrable Skills course following on from this introductory course.



To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
It is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of ICT.


This course is online. You will need to have access to a personal computer or laptop, a working camera and microphone, access to the internet, word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) and an email account to make the most of the online sessions. If you are keen to take notes, please have a notepad, pen or pencil to hand.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.


This course will prepare you for progression to a PowerPoint Transferable Skills course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as organisation and networking are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway


Your teacher will discuss progression options, and these will include Transferable skills courses, Digital Functional Skills, Cyber Security and other digital courses.
Other courses related to personal or professional development.
