Course Content


This qualification provides in-depth information about the role of the level 3 playworker. The diploma covers the knowledge and skills needed when working unsupervised and requires the learner to demonstrate these in the workplace. It is aimed at experienced playworkers who have an appreciation of the playwork principles and practice. This qualification reflects the national occupancy standards (NOS) 2016 and confirms competence to lead practice in a playwork setting at level 3. This qualification aims to: focus on the study of the role of the playworker, offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge, provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice. Further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at enrolment stage; we may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.



You will need to have completed our Career Planning short course and an Introduction to Playwork course prior to starting this course.



You will be given verbal and written feedback by your tutor throughout the course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.

Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.
