Course Content

This course will provide an AAT accredited qualification for those who are new to bookkeeping or those in an accounting role looking for an accounting qualification.

The course will help you to:
• Understand & produce a range of accounting documents
• Process supplier and other payments
• Process customer documents and other receipts
• Produce a cash and petty cash book
• Complete bank, supplier and customer reconciliations
• Complete double-entry T accounts
• Produce a trial balance
• Produce stock valuations using a variety of methods
• Understand cost behaviour & use coding systems
• Have a knowledge of legislation and policies in the workplace
• Understand the use of digital accounting systems
• Identify variances & the reasons that these may occur
• Use basic excel calculations
• Understand contract law & the external business environment
• Understand corporate social responsibility & sustainability


To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2024 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

You must hold maths and English at level 2 and be working at level 2 in ICT. You must also attend the two Introduction to accounts level 2 sessions.


You will need access to a calculator, laptop or computer & email. A smartphone is not suitable.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course. You will complete online practice assessments during the course and 4 assessments at our assessment venue in Ripon.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

Skillsfirst Award in Computerised Accounts

  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
