Time Management
Juggling work, family, friends, deadlines and research, as a part-time learner time management is a huge skill.
Organisation
Organisation skills are essential for part-time learners. Prove that you can handle the pressure of working and learning and you’ll get ahead in any career.
Research
If you know how to find accurate and reliable sources of information to use in projects and reports, you’ll quickly become an irreplaceable team member.
Networking
Networking skills developed through study group discussions can help to make a workplace meeting run smoothly, build client relationships and improve colleague and office relations.
Presenting Ideas
In most jobs, presentations or reports are required. If you’re already a pro at putting ideas into an easily digestible format (like an assignment) then you’re already half-way there
Reasoning
One skill you’ll naturally develop whatever subject you’re studying is reasoning. Whether you’re evaluating a resource or researching a topic, the ability to weigh up the pros and cons of a project are invaluable.
Decision Making
You might not realise it, but every assignment is the product of hundreds of small decisions, e.g. your choice of words, argument, resources etc. It’s easy to apply this skill to workplace decisions.
Persuasion
You don’t have to pursue a career in sales or business to need persuasion skills. As a learner you’ll naturally develop them as you build your case in essays and discussions.
