This course is for you if you like an introduction to Digital Functional Skills qualification.
Digital Functional Skills are designed to equip learners with the practical knowledge they need to use technology effectively, safely, and responsibly. By improving digital literacy, learners can enhance their employability, complete daily tasks more efficiently, and stay safe online.
This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to start you on your Digital Functional Skills qualification pathway. You will gain confidence through having discussions and producing work to gain an understanding of which future learning pathway is right for you and your overview of what is Digital Functional Skills and how it can support your practical knowledge.
This course will cover:
• Understanding the content around digital skills
• Having a go at some different tasks to check your level of ability.
• Completing tasks around file management, screenshots and creating basic word processing documents.
• Creating a teams educator account and how you can access office products online
• Expectations and goals of yourself and the teacher
• British Values and how they are relevant to digital and IT skills
• Knowledge of how to be successful in your learning

During the course you will be given helpful step-by-step guidance from our specialist teacher.



To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2025 and not already have a qualification in Digital Skills at Level 1. Further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at enrolment stage; we may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.


You may wish to have a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts.



Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.


You will receive a Certificate of Completion on completion of this course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.


You will be able to develop your digital skills further by taking additional courses. For example, you may like to learn more about using Digital Skills and Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Spreadsheets, or about online safety and cybersecurity. Your teacher will discuss progression options with you.


You may like to bring a drink with you to have away from the computer and electrical equipment.

  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,750
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
