This is an accredited course leading to the AAT Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping

The Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. It comprises six mandatory units:
Advanced Bookkeeping
Final Accounts Preparation
Indirect Tax


By the end of the course you should be able to:
Prepare final accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
Complete year-end adjustments such as depreciation, accruals and prepayments.
Record the purchase, sale and other entries for fixed assets.
Calculate VAT and prepare a VAT return.

Please note, learners will be required to purchase their own textbooks. There will be resources for those learners unable to afford the cost.



To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2025 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
You will learn a range of basic accounting practices and techniques, using textbooks, online tutorials & practice papers.




You will be required to have a level 2 of literacy and numeracy, and be able to use a computer. Please contact the area office to arrange an initial assessment. And have completed AAT qualifications at level 2 as appropriate.

A notepad, calculator, USB stick, pen or pencil and a folder to keep your work in.

  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
