In this practical session, adult learners will explore simple, effective ways to stay safe online. You'll learn how to recognise scams, protect your personal information, create strong passwords, and use the internet with greater confidence. Whether you're using email, shopping online, or browsing social media, this session offers clear, jargon-free advice to help you avoid common online risks. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to boost their digital confidence.



To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2025, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.
There are no IT entry requirements; this course is suitable for those who are new to using IT.



You may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts. You may wish to bring your own laptop, so the teacher can support you on your own device.


Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.


Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills and budgeting are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.



Your teacher will discuss progression options and these will include; First steps in digital skills, Next Steps in Digital skills Computers, Digital functional skills and Getting started with courses.



You may like to bring your own refreshments for consumption away from the computers.

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2025)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,750
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
