Do you provide information, advice and guidance to others? Would you like to be able to help others make informed choices about their learning, work and wellbeing? If so, North Yorkshire Adult Learning can offer you FREE Navigator training. You’ll learn about a wide range of career and learning opportunities and we'll introduce you to key sources of help and information. You'll also discover your personality animal, meet CiCi the Careers Chatbot and learn how they can help you find areas of work and learning that will suit your interests, skills and values. You'll produce your own personal action plan and be able to help others do the same.

Navigator training is for people who provide information, advice and guidance to others, whether in the workplace, in a voluntary capacity or in the community.





Open What Will I Need?


Ideally you will bring with you an internet enabled device, such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Open Assessment Methods


You will be given verbal and written feedback by your tutor throughout the course.

Open What Will I Achieve?


You will gain a Navigator digital badge that will evidence your skills in supporting career and personal development. You will also produce your own Career Action Plan, and will develop valuable transferable skills including decision making, problem solving, networking and researching.

Open Progression


You will have the opportunity to gain a Navigator digital badge and to progress to the Entry Level 3 Award in Career Planning and Personal Development and/or the Level 2 Certificate in Information Advice and Guidance. There will also be a wide range of other courses available to you. You will have the chance to explore your options further with a member of our Learning Advice team.

Open Is there anything else I need to know?


You will be able to access mentoring support from a member of our Learning Advice team throughout your time on the Navigator programme.

Helping you financially

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2025)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,750
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
